# Settings Valet > A free Mac utility from Epiphani Studios. It reads the two lists macOS keeps of what can control the Mac (Privacy & Security > Accessibility) and what starts by itself (General > Login Items & Extensions: Open at Login and Allow in the Background), then marks each leftover in red and each keeper in green on the live System Settings screen. The person makes every change; Settings Valet opens the page, selects the row, draws the mark and explains it in plain English. ## What it does - Accessibility: checks every row against the disk. Rows for installed programs get Keep; rows pointing at something gone get Remove, with the checked path under "How I know". Same-named rows are told apart by where they point and, with the optional Screen Recording permission, by the icon System Settings draws (a leftover shows the blank document icon). - Login Items & Extensions: marks Open at Login and background items whose app is gone, and explains every remaining background job in one sentence. Start-up jobs that point at a missing program are listed on the first page. - Move-In: after a move to a new Mac, checks Settings Valet's own permissions and every app permission and sign-in on the move list (a short list file in its Application Support folder), marking each one Allowed, Opened (waiting for Confirm) or to do, with a Fix button. - Links: settingsvalet://accessibility, settingsvalet://login-items and settingsvalet://move-in open those pages. Hush Performance and Figaro open it this way. ## How it works - Permissions: Full Disk Access (to read the protected lists), Accessibility (to open the page, select the row and draw marks), Screen Recording (optional; a picture of the System Settings window only, kept on the Mac). - Explanations: built-in rules, then Apple's on-device model; for anything left, it shows the exact names and asks before sending them to the Epiphani explanation service. - Usage counts are kept in a local file the person can read and share for support. - Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple; updates from updates.belstone.com, checked for the same signature. ## Requirements and price - macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon. Free. ## Links - Home: https://settingsvalet.com/ - Download: https://settingsvalet.com/download - Publisher: Epiphani Studios, https://epiphani.com/
